Phillipsburg is a famous port-of-call for many cruise ships because the shopping district offers a great selection of duty-free luxury goods at excellent prices. Terres Basses is also very convenient to the airport; you can be settled in quickly after your flight, having a refreshing swim in the crystal-clear concrete pool shortly after leaving the airport.

For outdoor activity, there are more than 23 distinct beaches on the island, each with its own flair and character. Terres Basses is a centrally located spot from which to explore all the wonderful things Saint Martin/Sint Maarten has to offer. Marigot, with its great shopping and restaurants at the Marina and throughout the town, is a 10 minute ride in the other direction. A little further up the main road is Grand Case, considered to be the gourmet capitol of the Caribbean.


Sugaree is short walk to the quiet serenity of Plum Bay beach, called by many visitors the finest beach on Saint Martin.
